Dream Big, Persevere, And Eventually You Will Get There
In August 2019, Dennis got in touch with Ballarat Entrepreneurship Facilitator, Paul Miller, to get advice on starting a coffee and food business. After 25 years working as a commercial cook, Dennis felt the time was right to start his own business – something he had been thinking about for a long time.
Not long after, Dennis had his food trailer on the road and his clientele was starting to grow. But this all came to a sudden halt when COVID hit Victoria in early 2020. Not to be deterred, Dennis continued to sell his homemade slices, cakes, and cheesecakes online. But as the months of lockdown stretched into 2021, Dennis was forced to consider other options to expand his business, or even close it down.
Now, in July 2021, after a number of fortuitous encounters, and with a little help from his friends, Dennis is the proud owner of his own small café.
When asked what advice he would give to others looking at starting a business, Dennis says ‘never give up on your dreams’. And we may add ‘Never give up dreaming.’
